Bootstrapping
Kathy and her sister started The Salvaged Boutique with a small amount of cash, and continued to re-invest their profits as they grew. Prior to opening the actual brick and mortar store Kathy invested some of her own money. They are now at the point where they are paying themselves. They did all of this without any loans or grants. And truly, no business plan.
Owning two businesses as a side hustle
Kathy still works full-time and at one point, her Law Enforcement career was demanding 50-70 hour work weeks. She had to figure out how to manage her time with a full-time gig and the business(es). Now, it really fits her lifestyle.
