Hi everyone, thanks for tuning in to another episode on the Modern Entrepreneurs podcast. Today my guest is Jesi Haack. Jesi is Owner and Creative Director of Jesi Haack Design. A dynamic design firm that creates, sews, saws, drills, glues, strings, cuts, dyes, shreds, fringes, nails, paints and tapes it all to create the perfect illustration to any story! Known for their cutting edge, out of the box ideas, JHD has been noticed by Martha Stewart, Brides Magazine, The Knot, WE TV, Glamour, Rue Magazine, Design Sponge and more.
Finding a demand
Growing up in a small town in Arizona, Jesi has always had a creative flare to her personality. She always looked for the unique way to do things. In 2001, Jesi Graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Broadcasting/Business Management and dabbled in Radio. One day after graduation, she searched for adventure by moving to Huntington Beach, California. She quickly found the man of her dreams and they married in 2004. Their first of four children was born in 2006 and Jesi began working random jobs to help supplement income for the family.
After being the first to tie the knot among her group of friends, Jesi began helping her pals plan and design their weddings. Soon friends of friends encountered her imaginative work, which transformed traditional events into trendy affairs. Bookings and referrals began to stream in. Everyone wanted Jesi’s playful prowess in creative construction. Jesi quickly created a website and printed business cards on her home printer once she discovered the demand for her ideas, and Jesi Haack Design was born. Once a popular wedding blog picked up her event designs, her business “took off in full force.”
She began helping friends with their weddings, and pretty quickly the word spread. Soon guests at those weddings were asking for business cards. Once that seed was planted, Jesi went home and created a website, logo and business cards and went at it full force. By 2008 Jesi Haack Design was a busy and flourishing wedding planning firm!
